A revised version of ISO/IEC 170000 cover the vocabulary and general principles of Conformity Assessment has been published replacing the earlier ISO/IEC 17000:2014.
The revised document specifies general terms and definitions relating to conformity assessment (including the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies) and to the use of conformity assessment to facilitate trade.
It provides two Annexes:
Annex A: Principles of Conformity Assessment
The general principles of conformity assessment and a description of the functional approach to conformity assessment are provided with sub-headings covering Functional Approach, Selection, Determination, Review, Decision and Attestation & the need for Surveillance.
Annex B: Related terms defined in other standards
This Annex covers the related terms defined in other conformity assessment standards, such as ISO/IEC 17029 and ISO/IEC 17065, and those terms defined in standards other than conformity assessment standards, such as ISO 19011 and ISO 9000.
It should be noted that conformity assessment interacts with other fields such as management systems, metrology, standardization and statistics. However, the boundaries of conformity assessment are not defined in ISO/IEC 17000:2020.
