As an update to my earlier articles: UK Greenhouse Gas Reporting: Conversion Factors 2019 & UK Greenhouse Gas Reporting: Conversion Factors 2018, the United Kingdom Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has published its latest Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Conversion Factors for 2020, which are set at Version 1.0 (as at 9 June 2020).
These GHG emission conversion factors can be used to report on 2020 Greenhouse Gas emissions by UK-based organisations of all sizes, and for international organisations reporting on UK operations.
Additionally, new tabs to the spreadsheet provide for SECR factors (SECR kWh pass & delivery vehs, SECR kWh UK electricity for EVs) as well as updates to other tabs and their conversion factors
The Department provides three sets of conversion factors, namely:
This data set is the most popular version. It provides an abridged version of the full set of factors, designed to reduce the volume of information users have to navigate through to find the factors they want. It is recommended for most, and new, users of conversion factors. Download here
This data set of factors contains all of the available factors for the selected year, and is recommended for advanced users only due to the volume of information presented. Download here
Flat file set:
This data set contains the same information as the full set, but arranged for automated processing only. This set can be downloaded here
A methodology paper explaining how the conversion factors are derived and describing the major changes will be available later in July 2020.
Please note that all the data sets for 2020 are, normally, timed to expire on 31 June 2021, when a new data set for that year (2021) will be published.
