A new development from Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Quantis is the Scope 3 Evaluator, which is a free, web-based tool that provides users with a simple interface to quickly approximate their indirect emissions that occur in the value chain, regardless of the size or sector of the organization. Businesses will be able to use this information to start identifying areas to pursue a more accurate inventory and focus their reduction efforts.
One of the problems with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting is that it can be difficult to complete a full scope 3 inventory as it is, often, difficult to start due to boundary issues and the problems of gathering data from other parties in the supply-chain.
The Scope 3 Evaluator, built on Quantis SUITE 2.0 software, promises to address these issues by offering a tool that both novices and experts can use to gain a better understanding of their footprint with minimal data collection required.
Although the tool is not yet available (11 December 2014), it will be launched through a webinar, where experts from Quantis and GHG Protocol will demonstrate how to take full advantage of this useful new tool.
