I wish to add my best wishes to congratulate Professor Martin Bigg, who was named as this year’s Chartered Environmentalist of the Year by the Society for the Environment (SocEnv).
Professor Bigg has been recognised for a number of achievements in the environmental field, including his role in helping Bristol win ‘European Green Capital 2015’. He was awarded the trophy by SocEnv President Tony Juniper at the society’s Annual Reception earlier in June at the annual even in London.
Amongst his many achievements have been his leadership roles in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Pollution and the Environment Agency & more recently as Professor of Environmental Technology Innovation at the University of the West of England and Chair of IEMA’s Strategic Advisory Council.
I have had the privilege to witness first-hand his vision, leadership and skills in the Environment Agency and through my role as Non-Executive Director / Council Representative of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, where he steered the Professional Standards Committee and as Chair of their Council.
