Government increases the opportunities for Green Incentives

The Government has increased the impact of their Green Incentives package from plans to only allow applications from households with an energy efficiency rating of C or above to widen the package to include lower energy efficiency households.

DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change) will, now, allow homes with a rating of level D or higher to be eligible to apply for green incentives, such as the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) scheme. As a result of the changes, half of UK homeowners will now qualify for green financial incentives from FITs but have until April 1 2012 to make the most of the subsidies.

Good news for households seeking to make a difference in their energy efficiency – Will this be the opportunity to change our behaviours or just another empty government initiative…
