This is the third in a series of videos on the theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution” for World Environment Day on 5 June 2018 exploring my interaction with plastic & the opportunities for going plastic-less.
This video details the options for quantifying the plastic waste from your shopping and your recycling.
There are two methods outlined in this video:
The first method uses kitchen scales to weigh small quantities of plastic waste from shopping & takes, as an example, the shopping plastic from the earlier video – Plastic-less Video 2: A Tale of Two Shopping Bags.
The second method uses differential weighing to quantify the recycling wastes from a household covering plastic, paper and cardboard & glass and tin cans.
Outline calculations are used to allow monitoring of the waste generated against national statistics and to explore opportunities to go Plastic-less.
Further videos in this series will explore my interaction with plastic through work, leisure and at meal times & the opportunities for going plastic-less.
