Waste Hierarchy – Request for Evidence

You may have read my recent blog on the joint Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) / CIWM (Chartered Institute of Waste Management) workshop with the support of the Environment Agency aimed at improving the understanding of the Waste Hierarchy for waste producers.

As an update to the recent activities relating to the Waste Hierarchy, a Waste Hierarchy Guidance Review is underway. Defra are seeking evidence for a review of the waste hierarchy guidance for non-hazardous wastes.

Evidence is sought for the new 2012 review, and must reach Defra by no later than 30 June 2012.

Any comments to the evidence for the consultation should be sent to:

or by e-mail to: wasteresearch@defra.gsi.gov.uk (with ‘Waste Hierarchy Evidence Review’ in the subject line)
