The United Nations World Environment Day is on 5 June this year (2012).

This year’s theme – Green Economy: Does it include you? – underpins the concept of an economy that is low-carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive. The theme, also, supports one of the main objectives of the Rio+20 Summit, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 20 to 22 June 2012.
For the United Kingdom, it falls during the special celebrations for the combination of the Queen’s Official Birthday on 4 June with an extra bank holiday (5 June) for the Diamond Jubilee, which may mean we are going to be distracted from issues of our global responsibilities.
Whatever your celebrations are over the Queen’s Official Birthday & Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday consider what you can do to reduce your environmental impact and have a more sustainable lifestyle.
