Development of a common structure for Management Systems

The International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) has released a draft International Standard providing a common management structure for a management system, whether it is an Environmental, Quality, Information Security Management System or any other management system.

There is much to be gained by having a common structure to management systems from an implementation viewpoint especially for organisations seeking to develop more than one management system or those seeking a fully integrated solution.

A disadvantage of this approach could be a lack of focus on the development of management systems to deal with the specific discipline issues, such as environment but the general approach has been to avoid such pitfalls.
