Today (23 June 2016) is the voting day for the EU Referendum after four months of posturing by both sides; Stronger in Europe & Vote Leave, the final voting day in upon us.
At the time of this post (22:05 Hrs), I have completed my voting at the Local Polling Station earlier this afternoon & the polls are, now, closed.
At this stage, it is too early to say what is the outcome of the vote.
What is known is that:
- Around 46.5m people were registered to vote in what is the third nationwide referendum in UK history
- Votes will be counted at 382 local counting areas in the UK and Gibraltar
- Individual areas’ results will be declared throughout the night, along with results from 11 national and regional centres
The next phase of the referendum vote is the long overnight process of counting the votes in our cities, towns, villages and across the country.
The outcome is expected to be known in the morning of Friday, 24 June 2016, when we will awake to the dawn of a new relationship with the rest of Europe.
